Adolescence opened on December 14, 2007. It's been a project that was always at the top of my to-do list since early 2005, but I could never decide exactly what I wanted to do with it. After years of being dissatisfied with the limitations and vandalism of Wikipedia, I decided to re-focus my efforts. In the end, the project turned into a general series fansite, but I hope to create a Ritsuka/Soubi-centric website soon, because there really isn't any end to the things to write about them. I'm discovering more all the time -- really!

I first encountered Loveless when I read a blurb about the anime adaptation in Newtype USA, March 2005 issue. I credit my instant interest in the series to the oddly adorable drawing of Ritsuka with a pumpkin displayed in the article. The next day, I scoured the Internet for as much about this little manga and soon-to-be anime series as I could find, and back then, it wasn't much. I devoured the scanty few scanlated chapters, and re-read them dozens of times while I waited for the anime to premiere. Though my feelings about the anime are mixed, I've stayed very passionate about the manga for nearly three years. It's a wonderful series.

I chose the name Adolescence for this site after a great deal of thought. I wanted something simple and relevant to the story, and 'adolescence' seemed to capture it with one beautifully simple word. Youth and sexual innocence are some of the most important themes in the story. Soubi has vehement disdain for young, inexperienced people, and Ritsuka is wise beyond his years yet completely clueless about how relationships are supposed to work. Both had their childhood corrupted, and it has caused irreparable damage. The result of that is seen in every action.

This is the first layout for Adolescence, and features Ritsuka and Soubi. I wanted to create a calm, relaxed but vibrant layout, and this is the result. The layout was created in Adobe Photoshop CS3, with Notepad. Image was scanned and coloured by myself.
